about
Somasonic is a set of sophisticated digital instruments built to bring beauty and soften internal tension. Or as I see it, it's the frequency of kindness, inspired by innovators in sound as well as ancient traditions, born from hundreds of hours of deep listening, and informed by scientific research. Somasonic sounds relax the nervous system and expand awareness.
Though science is not able to measure or explain awareness, there's nothing esoteric about it. We experience awareness' footprint every day.
Stress and worry contract us, narrowing our world into a reactive box. That's awareness shrunken. Relaxation of our nervous system expands awareness. Expanded awareness opens our doors of perception: we notice more, feel more, and can access deep, effortless focus for work, deep learning or visualization practices. Relaxation also allows us to drift away into sleep when the body needs rest.
Sound, as well as touch, moves our nervous systems directly. No logic or effort required.
How we feel determines how we experience life, and this is where Somasonic operates. "Somatic" means through the body: the 'interface' where the physical, the mind, and the spirit connect.
Three instruments: The Explorer, Harmonizer and the Witness, with several more coming up. Each one different, but every Somasonic instrument can autoplay itself: it brings you a living soundscape that keeps changing and never repeats. Playing is free.
Subscribe and more options open. Play a singing bowl with it, or any other musical instrument, press record and download your personal sound journey. Want to take it further: add soft or analogue synths over MIDI and build your own ambient works. Those who play their singing bowls with Somasonic can voice the Somasonic instrument of choice on their own singing bowl, so they're always in tune.
Somasonic can be used in a range of instances.
- For flow and deep focus. To quiet ambient distractions and direct the mind toward stillness, relaxed focus and deep work.
- For non-meditators and meditators alike. An effortless entry point to turn inward and declutter a noisy mind without forcing anything.
- For wellness professionals. The ideal soundscape for sessions or use in public spaces.
- For sleep. The Explorer specifically delivers drift-focused sound designed to gently dissolve a racing nervous system, so it can be carried away by sleep.
- For sound professionals. To easily build deep ambient soundscapes or sound journeys by adding either analogue or electronic instruments.
on the horizon
Somasonic is an evolving project. Currently in development as upcoming additions to the ecosystem is an ongoing citizen science study on sleep. It tests the hypothesis that a specific Somasonic soundscape gives an active mind something to drift away on, so thoughts loosen their grip and sleep follows. Participants use the sound and track their nights.
Happy listening,
